If you are picking one club in Kabukicho, this is where the shortlist starts. No. 31 in DJ Mag’s global ranking is the best a Japanese venue has managed, and one of the few times a Tokyo club is known by name outside Japan.
A ranking is not a reason to go, though. What actually matters is that there are four floors. If the room is not working, you move. That single fact separates WARP from every other megaclub in Shinjuku.
What kind of club it is
WARP opened in October 2018 as Kabukicho’s first large-scale club in roughly ten years, in the basement of the Daini Toa Kaikan building. You come down the stairs off one of Tokyo’s loudest streets and the scale changes immediately.
The sound is EDM and Top 40, with hip-hop in the mix. Mainstream, in other words — you will know the songs without following a scene. It is open every night of the year, which in practice means you never have to check whether tonight is a night.
Using the four floors
This is where the value is. Most megaclubs are a single bet: if the room is wrong, the night is over. Here it is not.

Who is there
A Kabukicho megaclub crowd: travellers, locals and people out from work. The international share runs higher than at other Shinjuku clubs — the DJ Mag placing is better known abroad than at home, and it shows on the floor. English gets you through the night without trouble.
Ages are broad. Twenties lead, but thirties and forties are unremarkable here, and the average lifts after 1am as the after-dinner crowd arrives.
When to go
- 21:00–23:00｜Quiet. Good for walking the floors before it fills.
- 23:00–01:00｜Filling. Door price steps up at 23:00 on Fri/Sat, midnight on weekdays — get in before it.
- 01:00–03:00｜Peak. All four floors moving, crowd skews older.
- 03:00–04:30｜Winding down, first-train crowd stays on.
Dress: no jerseys, sweats, tank tops or sandals, and large exposed tattoos may be refused. Otherwise street clothes are fine.

Seibu-Shinjuku Station, South Exit, 2 minutes. From JR Shinjuku East Exit it is about 6. The street is busy at any hour.

What does No. 31 actually mean?
DJ Mag, a British music magazine, publishes a Top 100 Clubs list each year. 31 is the highest placing any Japanese club has taken.
Do all four floors play the same thing?
No. The main room leads on EDM and Top 40; the others differ. That is what makes moving worth it.
Is it ever closed?
It runs nightly. One-off closures happen, and the surest check is whether a guest pass is being issued for tonight.
Will tattoos stop me?
Large exposed work may be refused. Covered is rarely an issue.
