What a guest list actually does

In Tokyo, “guest list,” “guest pass,” and “discount flyer” all point at the same thing: an arrangement made before you arrive that lowers your entry price. When your name (or a QR pass) is on the list, the door charges you the guest rate instead of full cover.

What it is not is a queue-jump or a way around the rules. Doors still check ID and age, dress code still applies, and on a sold-out night a pass doesn’t guarantee entry after capacity is hit. Think of it like a hotel rate booked in advance versus the walk-in price — same room, better deal, because you sorted it ahead of time.

How much it actually saves

It varies by venue and night, but as a rough guide:

• Standard night: guest rate knocks ¥1,000–¥2,000 off cover, and often still includes a drink ticket.
• Big event / international DJ: the gap is bigger — full cover can spike, while the guest rate stays closer to normal.
• Women’s / early-entry lists: some nights have reduced or free entry before a cutoff time; a pass locks that in.

Across a group of four, that’s easily ¥6,000–¥8,000 saved in a single night — the difference between one round and three.

How to get a guest pass with us

What you need at the door

A pass gets you the rate; these get you in:

• Your physical passport. Foreign guests are asked for passport ID at most Tokyo doors — a phone photo usually won’t cut it.
• Age 20+. That’s the legal line for both entry and alcohol, and doors check.
• Dress code. Most big rooms are smart-casual: clean shoes, no gym kit or beachwear. When in doubt, lean tidy.
• Some cash. Even with a discounted cover, coat check and the first bar round are often cash-first. ATMs at any 7-Eleven take foreign cards.

Common mistakes to avoid

• Leaving it till the door. Sort the pass before you head out — it’s a minute now versus full price later.
• No passport. The most common reason solid plans fall apart at the entrance.
• Cutting it to last train. Last train is around midnight and the night peaks after that. Decide early whether you’re taxiing or staying till first train (~5am).
• Assuming the list is a fast pass. It’s a better price, not a capacity override — arrive before peak on big nights.
