Which Shibuya club should you pick?

CLUB VIZEL

Pick it if: you want an easy, cheap first Shibuya night, a group that wants to dance and talk, or a midweek dancefloor.

CLUB VIZEL sits a couple of minutes off Center Gai, right by Tokyu Hands — close enough to Hachiko that you can’t really get lost, far enough off the main drag to avoid the worst of the street noise. It’s been open since 2019 and it’s the one room in this list with our free QR guest pass.

It’s a single designer-built floor wrapped in LED panels, lasers and smoke, with a 360-degree bar in the middle and round tables spaced far enough apart that you can actually hear each other. That last part matters more than it sounds: this is an easygoing party room rather than a heads-down underground floor, so it works for a group that wants to dance and talk. The LED wall and a Pioneer rig run the room, and the policy is all-mix — EDM, house, hip-hop and R&B most nights, so you can drop in without checking who’s playing.

The crowd is young and relaxed rather than a hustler scene, and the door is genuinely cheap for Shibuya. Doors open at 21:00 and it runs to around 4:30am, Wednesday through Sunday plus holidays, closed Monday and Tuesday. It’s 20-plus with photo ID, smart-casual — no athletic wear, sweatpants, sandals or Crocs.

TK Shibuya

Pick it if: you want the biggest night in Shibuya, an international DJ, or a mixed group that wants different sounds on different floors.

TK Shibuya is the district’s multi-floor megaclub, set in the Chitose Kaikan building off Dogenzaka in Udagawacho. It runs different sounds across its floors on the same night, so you can find a proper house or techno room while the rest of your group drifts toward something more EDM-leaning next door. The booking calendar pulls international DJs and it genuinely packs out on a Friday or Saturday.

WOMB

Pick it if: you’re coming for techno or house and the lineup matters more than anything else.

WOMB is Shibuya’s techno cathedral — four floors in Maruyamacho, stacked around a cavernous main room built on a legendary sound system. When an international techno or house headliner comes to Tokyo, this is usually where they land, and the crowd is there to listen. HARLEM and CAMELOT

Pick them if: you want a specific sound — hip-hop at HARLEM, mainstream and EDM at CAMELOT.

HARLEM is a long-running Shibuya hip-hop institution. CAMELOT plays mainstream and EDM, with easy entry near Center Gai. Neither has a guest pass through this site, so pay at the door and check the night’s event before you go.

How the night works in Shibuya

Shibuya is more spread out than Shinjuku, so the night takes a little more intent. The clubs aren’t all within a two-minute walk of each other, which means bouncing between three rooms is less casual here — most people pick one main room and commit, maybe with one backup nearby.

The night peaks late. Things fill in after midnight and run hardest from around 1am to 3am, with the bigger rooms going until first train at roughly 5am. If you’re coming for a specific DJ, check set times — headliners in Shibuya often don’t start until well after midnight.

One thing worth knowing before you plan: a lot of Shibuya is shut early in the week. Many rooms, including the one below, don’t open Monday or Tuesday at all. If you’re in town midweek, Wednesday is the night to aim for — it’s when VIZEL’s cheapest night lives.

Two things stand out. Wednesday is the outlier — ¥1,000 for men and ¥500 for women, both with free-flow drinks, which is close to the cheapest real night out in Shibuya. And for men, the guest pass is worth more than the drink tickets it costs you: ¥2,500 down to ¥1,000 on a Thursday is a bigger saving than a second drink ticket is worth. Women pay ¥1,000 with two drinks whether they use a pass or not, so the pass is about skipping the door queue rather than the price.

Getting there and last train

Shibuya is one of Tokyo’s biggest hubs, so getting there is easy from almost anywhere in the city. Getting home is the part to plan: last train is around midnight on most lines, and the night runs well past that.

A couple of Shibuya-specific notes: some rooms sit up the hill on Dogenzaka or back in the surrounding streets, so leave a few extra minutes to find the door. If you’re staying past last train, you’re either taxiing or going through to first train around 5am — decide which before you go out.
